Data model
Objects, fields and relations are the building blocks of everything in Solid.
Everything in Solid is built from objects and fields. Change them, and every app, view, API endpoint and workflow follows.
Objects
Objects are the tables that hold your data. Solid starts with these:
- Companies: organizations you do business with
- People: individual contacts
- Opportunities: deals in your pipeline
- Tasks: action items for your team
- Notes: free text linked to any record
You can add custom objects for anything else: contracts, projects, orders, tickets. Custom objects get the same treatment as the standard ones, including views, permissions, API endpoints and workflow triggers.
Fields
Fields are the properties of an object.
| Category | Types |
|---|---|
| Basic | Text, Number, Boolean, Date, Currency, Rating, Select |
| Composite | Address, Full name, Links, Phones, Emails |
| Special | Relation, File, JSON, Actor (who created or changed the record) |
Every object also has system fields: id, createdAt, updatedAt, createdBy and position.
Relations
Relations connect objects. A Company has many People; an Opportunity belongs to a Company. You can relate any two objects, including many-to-many.
